Canaport LNG Donates Two Smartboards

Canaport/LNG has graciously donated two smartboards to Forest Hills School. The Smartboard is an interactive whiteboard with endless possibilities as a teaching tool in the classroom. We would like to sincerely thank Canaport/LNG for their generousity in supporting local schools.

Thank you!!!

Forest Hills School would like to thank all of the parents, students and community members who gave support to our annual Flea Market.

Due to your generousity we were able to raise $1486.50. All of this money will be used to support families in our school community.

Also, we would like to say a word of thanks to Mrs. Roy and her army of student helpers and parent volunteers. Please know that all of your time and hard work is much appreciated.

Elementary Christmas Concerts

Our Elementary Christmas Concerts will take place next week on Tuesday, December 16th and Wednesday, December 17th. Each concert lasts only 80 minutes and will begin at 9:30 in the theatre. We ask that parents plan to stay for the entire concert as it is distracting for the performers if people come and go during the concert.

We also ask that parents consider parking at the rear of the school as parking at the front of the building is extremely limited. Parents who park at the front of the building must park on Glengarry Drive and not in the bus or fire lanes.

Classes will be performing as follows;

On Tuesday, Dec 16th; K. King, Gr. 1 Davidson, Gr. 2 Jackson & Roy, Gr. 3FI McLaughlin, Gr. 3 Greer, Gr. 4 Delano, Gr. 5 Fequet and Gr. 5 FI Hicks.

On Wednesday, Dec 17th; K Young, Gr. 1 Weber, Gr. 1/2 Vincent, Gr. 2FI Gobeil & Farmakoulus-Walker, Gr. 3 Blanchard, Gr. 3/4FI Cochrane, Gr. 4 O'Blenes and Gr. 5 Beaulieu-Manuel.

Please feel free to contact the school if you have any other questions.

The Dominion Institute's Memory Project coming to FHS December 15th, 2008

This month The Dominion Institute's Memory Project will be coming to our school on Monday, December 15th. This initiative brings students and veterans together to prompt meaningful discourse between the two groups in the hopes that their memories of battle will not be forgotten. This project will involve a number of our Grade 5 andGrade 8 students, where they will be given the opportunity to meet the veterans in a relaxed atmosphere to talk to them and learn from them firsthand what they experienced during their tenure in the military. The hope is that these students will take the stories and experiences they hear to heart and become the ones to impart this new knowledge on to their friends and siblings so that their efforts will never be forgotten.

For more information please see the webpage our very own Mr. Sweezey developed for this very special project: http://web.me.com/psweezey/gr8foresthills/The_Memory_Project.html
