School Supply Lists 2009-2010
Please Note: School Supply lists are on our website under the heading "homework". Just click on homework and choose the grade your child is entering to get a copy of the supply list. We will also be dropping off copies of the lists to Staples. However, Staples usually does not make these available to the public until some time in August.

Attention Volunteers! Big Brothers Big Sisters, NB Association of Community Living and FHS Partnerships

Forest Hills School is partnering with NB Association for Community Living to look for “Circle of Friends” facilitators. Training and information is provided and commitment is for in-school activities only.
The purpose of Circle of Friends is to break down barriers of social isolation and assist students with an intellectual disability in building relationships and friendships with their peers. Circle of Friends is a club unlike no other in schools today. It is open to all students regardless of their interests or skills and is an opportunity for kids to come together to simply share their interests and learn the importance of building and maintaining friendships. Allowing all children to have an opportunity to be themselves with other children is integral to their social development and overall well being. Circle of Friends is simple and straightforward program that is held at school during lunch time. The program has been an overwhelming success because it fulfills our most basic needs to be understood and to have someone to call our friend.
For more information about Circle of Friends or to learn how you can become a Circle’s Facilitator at your school, please contact NBACL’s Marc Gathercole by phone at (506) 453-2191 or via email mgathercole@nbacl.nb.ca. or contact Ms. T. Whitney, school principal, at 658-5338 for more information.
PLEASE consider this opportunity as a way to support our community children.

Forest Hills School is partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saint John to look for in-school mentors for next school year. Training and information is provided and commitment is for in-school activities only.
Remember when you were a kid? Didn’t you love it when an adult paid attention to you? We have a number of GREAT kids who are waiting with anticipation for a Mentor in our In School Mentoring Program throughout Districts 8, 6, and 10.
To be a Mentor, it only takes:
* One hour a week
* On school property
* During the school year
Our program is flexible to meet your needs as well as the needs of the child. Your mentoring hour can be arranged for any time during the school day, not just over the noon hour.
You can:
Make crafts, play sports in the gym, read books, tell jokes, walk in the schoolyard, plant flowers, do puzzles, work on a project, build a model car, play board games, teach new skills, and much more!
Why not “Share your Lunch with a Child” and be a “kid” yourself. Call 635-1145 or visit www.bigbrothersbigsisters.ca/saintjohn or contact Ms. T. Whitney, school principal, at 658-5338 for more information.
