Community Day

Forest Hills School in Saint John NB will be hosting a community day on Saturday June 7, 2008 from 11 am-2pm. The purpose of this event is to promote organizations and the school and re-ignite a community spirit.

We would like to invite organizations to this event. We will provide a table for organizations and advertising for the event. Should any interested organizations not be able to attend and would like to send pamphlets/pens/etc. for an information table we will gladly place them on a general information table. We hope you will be able to come and join us and let the Forest-Glen community know what your organization is all about!

Tickets will be $3.00 each or $10.00 They may be purchased Wednesdays and Fridays in the volunteer room or from Mrs. Roy (grade 4). Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.

Summer Science and Sports Camp

Summer Science and Sports Camps for young students are being offered by the Faculty of Science, Applied Science, and Engineering at UNBSJ. Camps are avilable for students entering grades 2-9 in the following September. For further information, please contact Tasha Silliphant at 648-5927.

Upcoming online web seminar - Anaphylaxis 101

Anaphylaxis Canada is pleased to announce the launch of its first online web seminar, Anaphylaxis 101, which will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 12 noon to 1 pm. Our first web seminar will focus on the basics of anaphylaxis and the need-to-know information every patient requires such as what is anaphylaxis; signs and symptoms; common causes of anaphylaxis; how to use an auto-injector and tips for creating an allergy safe environment. This seminar is being offered free of charge across the country to anyone with an interest in anaphylaxis, such as parents of allergic children, educators, child care workers, public health and other caregivers. Symphony New Brunswick Free Concert on May 2nd

On May 2nd at 12 noon the members of Symphony New Brunswick's 'Saint John String Quartet' will be performing a FREE CONCERT FOR KIDS on Level I Brunswick Square in the centre court. Throughout the school year the Quartet, on behalf of SNB, travel to over 40 schools in the province providing educational and interactive concerts for kids in grades K-8. Aliant sponsors 20 of these concerts, and this event on May 2nd is being put on jointly by SNB and Aliant to promote and show the public what is done in the schools. This will be a very fun event for all and we hope to see you!

Congratulations to Grade 6 Immersion!

The grade 6 Immersion students entered a contest through NB Power on ways to save energy which relates to our Social Studies curriculum. Both classes did Power Point presentations on different ways and different areas we can save and how important it is for our future. The students won 1000$ for the classroom. The prize money needs to be put toward something technological to benefit students' learning. We plan on putting that money toward a Smartboard.
