Canadian Tire Money Campaign

Forest Hills Home and School Association is in the middle of our Canadian Tire Money Campaign. The campaign started on May 1st and will end on May 31st. The class who brings in the most money will be rewarded with an ice cream party.
Canadian Tire Money comes in many denominations and every little bit helps. We encourage you to ask your friends, family, neighbours and coworkers. The funds raised will be used to purchase items for our school and/or a bigger item to be raffled.
This fundraising is a way to help keep costs down for you, our parents and get items that are much needed for our students. We hope that we can count on you to help support your child and our school.

New Brunswick Lieutenant Governor visits FHS

On May 13, 2009 His Honour Hermenegilde Chiasson visited Forest Hills School. He spoke to students in grades 7 and 8 about his policitical experiences as Lieutenant Governor as well as his background as an artist and writer. This intimitate gathering allowed for students to get up close and personal with His Honour by asking questions and getting pictures taken with him. He vast life experiences captivated the audience for over an hour. We would also like to extend thanks to Mr. Sweezey for his initiative in organizing this terrific event for the school.

Student Take Action to Support Uganda

After learning about the difficulties facing the children of Uganda in their social studies class, the grade 6 French Immersion Students at Forest Hills School have decided to raise money through a “Gulu Walk”. The walk will be held on Thursday, June 18th and the students are
currently organizing various activities and events to raise awareness and money for this cause.
The funds raised through this project will be used to support education and health efforts in Uganda.

Regional Heritage Fair

Forest Hills School excelled at this year's Regional Heritage Fair. Louis McCluskey in Grade 6 placed 1st for his project "Marco Polo" and Amanda Rideout placed 2nd with "Hartland Bridge." In Grade 7 Alexandra Clarke placed 2nd with her project"Transportation "and Andrea Simeon and Roslynn Willinston placed 3rd with "Kayaks and Snowshoes." Sarah Drost in Grade 8 placed 2nd with her project "Saint John Drydock."
In the Special Awards Sarah Drost received an award under the category NB Historic Places, Andrea Simeon and Roslynn Willinston for RBC Foundation Award and Alexandra Clarke for Transportation. Congratulations to these winners and all participants.

Home and School

The next Home and School meeting is Monday, May11th at 7:00pm in the Middle School Library. All are welcomed.

Law Day Contest

Students in Grade 3 were asked by the Law Society to design a poster celebrating their rights and freedoms. Alex Beals , a student in Mrs. Greer's class won a medal and $100 for his class for his poster "Be Heard by Everyone". Also the school will display a trophy for the year. Congratulations to Alex and all grade 3 participants.
