H1N1 Update - Community Clinic on November 6th

For your information: You may have heard in the media, and this will confirm, that Public Health has arranged to have a clinic at the Barrack Green Armoury at 60 Broadview Avenue on Friday, November 6th between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. This is for the priority groups, one of which is children 6 months to 18 years of age. Public Health has stated that there is no guarantee that those who attend the clinic will be vaccinated. It will depend on how long the supply lasts.

The school district is not making any arrangements for students to attend this clinic. In other words, it would be the responsibility of the parent to decide whether or not the child goes to the clinic; and if they decide to attend, it is the parent’s responsibility to transport.

On another note, given that the virus is circulating in the Saint John community, it is reasonable to assume that school populations would be exposed and that this school would be impacted. We have had at least one reported case of H1N1.
School District officials are monitoring absenteeism of both students and staff members in conjunction with Department of Education officials. The safety and instruction of our school population is of primary concern, and decisions about school closure would be based on those criteria. Please continue to monitor your child’s health and keep your child at home when sick. It is also important that you continue to exercise the hygiene precautions that have been widely publicized.
